The Monster in My Closet
The door creaked open, and I stood in awe.
You won't believe what I saw!
There was a monster in my closet. I tell you it's true!
Somebody call the monster removing crew!
This monster had no arms or legs that I could see....
but it did have one large, round, brown eye staring at me.
The eye was attached to a long, skinny, squiggly, green neck
that in turn attached to a body. What in the heck?
The body was green too and round as the eye
but the truly crazy thing...this monster could fly!
It was wearing a beanie, striped red, yellow, blue
with a small propeller on top, this monster really flew!
My closet monster has no claws...
no snarling lips, no fuzzy paws
with no mouth or pointy teeth
this monster seems safe...easy to keep.
Oh yes, I'll keep it! It's mine...all mine!
A monster to watch over me, all of the time.
